Human Givens Consultancy (The Centre)

TheSPACE, based in Kendal, is a well-established specialist provider of residential therapeutic care and education for young people aged between 7 and 19 years. This organisation is taking a national lead in developing the Human Givens approach to work within a residential educational setting, alongside the development of Human Givens-based therapeutic practice within the community through its unique development, TheSPACE/HGC.

Located in the centre of Kendal, TheSPACE/HGC base is a three-storey building that has been developed to provide contemporary facilities for therapeutic work alongside education and training. This building offers the ideal environment to work more intensively with young people resident within TheSPACE's two schools, and to work even more closely with the parents, carers and other professionals involved in the care and well-being of these children.

As importantly, TheSPACE/HGC provides a Human Givens therapy service for members of the local community, accepting referrals from health care services as well as private referrals directly from members of the public. Therapeutic interventions and treatment for a broad range of mental health issues are provided, which include: anxiety and depression, psychosis, post traumatic stress, anger management difficulties, addictive behaviours [including drug and alcohol dependency, eating disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder], phobias and medical conditions including irritable bowel syndrome, cancer and chronic pain.

In addition, TheSPACE/HGC provides training for health and education professionals nationally (both special needs and mainstream education), and is also developing a national consultancy service for organisational health and development.
